Soooo good. Amazing staff all around. The sea bass was phenomenal and my husband had the filet it was wonderful. The only small downside was the decor - it seems a little outdated and the lights could have been dimmer to give a little more ambiance but other than that, this restaurant is top notch if you want a fantastic dinner and awesome experience!

    Typical hotel restaurant. Disappointing.

Ummm ... weird ... I'll second what Lydia H said except I got the Hawaiian sea bass and my honey got the scallops with lobster risotto. The sea bass was absolutely fantastic. We also tried a lobster roll expecting a New England-type lobster roll rather than the sushi variety. Considering the Asian overtones to the menu I'm not sure why we thought that. But it was good ... full of large pieces of lobster. Service was excellent. Friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

As one of the few long time established restaurants on the island, I was looking forward to my first visit here. Great atmosphere indoors as well as being part of the islands only true "resort". The waitstaff all did a great job and the menu offered several options consistent with a restaurant of this caliber and price range. However our disappointment started when the orders started coming out. We were a table of 4, all ordering appetizers and entrees. It was universal agreement that not one of our dishes met the expectations based on what we have always been told. I'm not referring to little nuances such as under/over seasoned or overcooked. Many of our dishes should not have left the kitchen if there was a discriminating eye in charge. My sea bass had the taste and texture of an Applebee's attempt at Ahi tuna. So bad in fact the manager took the dish back to show the chefs. The soup was under seasoned, lacking any depth of flavor. The prawns and scallops were just as underwhelming in texture and flavor. I definitely understand not everything is always going to be cooked perfectly for everyone's liking, moreover, this ENTIRE meal was off. Way off. I appreciate the manager that night listening to our concerns and taking care of a few of the entrees. But after a few hundred dollars spent, then having to go to the beach bar afterwords because we were all still hungry doesn't sit well with me. I'm hoping this was just an off night with the cooks. Perhaps the empty dining room here, while still packed at top notch places such as fin bistro, is indicative of people finally rewarding quality cooking while not settling for the infinite number of Marco restaurants that gouge the tourists with over the top average quality.

While vacationing on Marco a nice night out found us at Kurrents in the beautiful Marriott Resort. Good food, good drinks not great. Was disappointed in the bar, bartender looked bored and not really into creating great cocktails . However food was good but expensive for the overall quality. Calamari and shrimp appetizer was good and worth the try. Service was excellent overall. Resturant is not near the water and does not have any view really what so ever. Was kid friendly however kids meals were expensive as well. An expensive night, and not worth the price but it has potential to be a real winner. Just needs to amp up the menu a bit and get a better cocktail menu. Dessert was a real winner.

Good food, great service, outdoor seating is a must. Try the steaks they are all very good. Our waitress was great. Food came out right on time and not on top of the appetizers. We will be back.

Stayed at the Marco Island Marriott several times. This has to be one of their best domestic resorts without a doubt. Marco Island itself is a absolute jewel! Anyway about Kurrents.....I normally do not dine in hotel restaurants for dinner, but I have to tell you that Kurrents is outstanding. I've always had tremendous service and fabulous food. Here is a tip....sit at the Chet's bar and watch as the cooking staff prepare meals...very entertaining to see it all happen while you enjoy your meal. Sea Bass is the best ever; they also prepare one of the most unique Ceaser salads I've enjoyed. On a prior trip, I visited one weekend in August 2012 and a hurricane just glanced Marco. Weather was bad and lots of rain. Kurrents provided a bottle of wine to all it's patrons for both nights that I dined there. By the way, the breakfast brunch at this resort is also one of the best I've enjoyed as well. Price includes a make your own Bloody Mary station with a cask of hot pepper infused vodka and homemade Bloody Mary mix with all the fixings!!!

Kurrent's offers amazing seafood with a modern, refreshing setting. Located on the ground floor of the Marco Island Marriott, Kurrent's has a small outdoor terrace with a sexy firepit off in a corner, but the majority of tables are inside in the main dining room. We started off with some white wine and the ahi tuna sampler. The dish was cool and perfect for the 90 degree weather. I ordered the scallops with lobster risotto, and my honey got the Hawaiian sea bass with a shiitake mushroom risotto cake. His fish literally melted in your mouth and had caramel undertones, it was unlike anything we'd ever tasted. His risotto cake was good, but didn't compare to the rich, buttery goodness of my lobster risotto. The scallops were served in a light tomato sauce, which was different than how I've usually eaten them but very good. We didn't try dessert, but the waiter offered the menu early if we wanted to take advantage of the hot lava cake which needs to be ordered ahead of time. Kurrent's is quite similar to Roy's in menu and presentation, with comparable prices. I'd highly recommend Kurrents if you are staying in Marco Island!

We will be on the island for 9 days and we will dine here again. My Chilean Sea Bass was PERFECT! Flan for dessert was nice, hubby didn't care for his grouper but he is a burger fries guy. :-)

We heeded the other reviews and my husband ordered the sea bass - scrumptious! I had the appetizer of prosciutto-wrapped shrimp as my main course, with a side of lobster mac & cheese. The shrimp was good - nothing special. The rigatoni pieces in the mac and cheese were very al dente, and my teeth found a decent-sized piece of lobster shell. Ugh. My 11-year-old had potato-encrusted snapper which she loved. Points must be deducted though for the rock-hard carrots that accompanied. We shared the chocolate lava cake for dessert (which they call a soufflé for some reason). It was tasty. Gotta love a restaurant that serves coffee from a French press! Service was attentive; the place had a cool vibe. Where else can you find a restaurant with menus that light up?

Marriott Marco Island Resort is a 5 star Service hotel, at least up until we had dinner at their downstairs (upscale) restaurant, Kurrents! They fell short of the mark here, but the food was delicious. Our waiter got off on the wrong foot when we ordered a bottle of wine and never regained rapport with us. I had the sea bass which was delicious, as well as the sautéed cabbage which accompanied it , but their ravioli was gummy and not edible. Hubby had the snapper and said it was okay, but he had order envy with my sea bass. We had an appetizer that is not very memorable and a tasty creme brûlée for dessert.

I am not usually a fan of Hotel Restaurant's but Kurrent's was worth the trip. Service was very attentive. Dennis the Manager was always walking around making sure everyone had what they needed. That was a nice touch. We had the Sea Bass and the Snapper. Sea Bass met expectations and was very well prepared. Maybe a litle on the sweet side for my liking but still very good and my wife loved it. I had the snapper which was outstanding. I would put that up there with some of the best snapper I have had. My only complaint about the snapper was the carrots that accompanied the dish. They were hard and had a weird taste to them. All in all very good meal. Dessert we had the Cheesecake and the Soup and Sandwich. Both were very good. I thought the soup was a little sweet but a good touch. The cheesecake with the icecream on top was excellent. We would go back when we return to the island.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Great service, friendly staff, and some really unique dishes. Try the soup and sandwich for dessert! Also, red snapper and sea bass was awesome, best I'vehad!

The dinner restaurant at the Marriott is called Kurrents. The brunch/lunch restaurant is called Tropiks. And the lounge and sushi bar is called Korals. Get it? It's a K instead of a C. In all three names. Isn't that clever? And the K must stand for Marriott. Or something. But on to the review... We had a family dinner here while on vakation in Marco Island. The wait staff was friendly. For some odd reason, we had the dining room kompletely to ourselves at 6:30pm for dinner. After getting our drink orders in, another wait staff person oddly kame over to our table and introduced himself as someone who was going to help us that evening, but we never saw him again. Maybe the waiters were fighting over the one table being served (?). The food was very tasty, especially the pumpkin ravioli that was a side dish next to the main fish dish. The bread was also good. Finally, the chokolate lava kake was a nice end to the meal.

Easily the best restaurant in the Marriott. The food was excellent and they really took care of us. We got in late, but had no problem getting a table before they got busy. We started with a tasty fresh salad and a fantastic crab cake. My wife had the Alaskan Halibut with an olive tapenade and I had the Wild King Salmon. The Halibut was the better of the two. My wife mentioned that it was my birthday and they served up a comped lava cake that was gooey goodness. They also took a nice photo of us and then showed up with it framed for us before we left. These were all nice touches that were unnecessary but made a special evening for us. Great food and service, what more do you need?

Was here while I was here on vacation with the Mrs. This restaurant is good. The service was truly 5 stars, however the food was just...eh. Had a nice grouper and my wife had the steak. Neither of which was extraordinary but the fact that we had that great of service made this worth it. Good stuff.

Solid and tasty food! We left feeling satisfied with our meals, however our server SUCKED. The meal started our awkwardly with our server calling us by the wrong name, he was embarrassed and unfortunately our service just went down hill from there. Luckily the food made up for it! The typical price of an entree is $30-40 and approximately $10 for a salad. Compared to other Marco island Marriott restaurants this place is good in the real world you can get better food for your money.

We ate at Kurrent's twice on our recent trip. Our server recommended two seafood dishes from the menu and he was so right. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass with a citrus flair and I had the red snapper encrusted in potato. Both meals were superb. On our second dinner there, my wife again had the chilean sea bass , which again she loved, but I went for the filet mignon. It was ok but I would not recommend it. I kick myself for not having one of those two excellent fish dishes. Service was outstanding both nights.

I recently visited Kurrents restaurant while staying at the Marriott on vacation. The overall service was good - but the food was lackluster. For this price point, I definitely expected better. Pros - The bread and wine was good, servers were very attentive and convenient location especially if you are staying on-site. Cons - I ordered the sea bass which was not seasoned well at all and it included some sauce that did not go well with the dish. The chicken lacked flavor and the lobster mac and cheese left a lot to be desired especially with a price tag of $12 or $15 (can't remember exactly). I consider myself a foodie and for this level of restaurant I expect much more with the taste of the food. If I were you, I'd just order room service.

We had a GREAT dinner here. All four of our entrees were delicious. The gratin potatoes are a must have - I'm still thinking about them. The staff was excellent and very willing to accommodate a food allergy. Yes, a bit pricey because you're in the Marriott, but no more expensive than the majority of mediocre restaurants on Marco Island.

One of the best restaurants on Marco and amazing it's in the Mariott. The fish is outstanding - fresh and always prepared to perfection. Professionally trained chefs and well trained servers dish up a great meal. Most of the island restaurants are run my past vacationers that decided to buy themselves a job and open a restaurant. Read: amateurs. Hey some are successful in spite of this - G-D bless america. But many provide average at best. Not this place - it's pricey but the real deal.

great service, great ambiance, food was real good although slightly overpriced as you would expect from a hotel restaurant. We enjoyed our waiter, he was great with recomendations. The place feels upscale, but because its on the resort, we showed up in jeans and sweatshirts (FL had a cold streak) and were not made to feel bad or out of place! nice atmosphere and great food docked it one star because my husband said he had had better steak and it was sort of bland.

Very surprised, this is the first time Yelp let me down. The place is first of all VERY cheesy for decor, but decor normally does not factor into the food for me. The scallop appetizer was great, but after that it was all downhill. My wife and I shared multiple appetizers and entrees and I felt they were all pretty average. I expected extraordinary based off other yelp reviews and was disappointed. Especially when you consider this is in a Marriott and is severely overpriced. We left unsatisfied and disappointed for the first time with yelp, so we decided to post this review.

The question I always face with these reviews is do I compare the restaurants to my all time favorites across the world or in the microcosm of Marco Island. For Marco Island the restaurant is quite good but compared to some of my favorites in Philly it is only 'decent'. Still looking for a exceptional restaurant on Marco Island.

outstanding food and service. I would definitely agree with the yelpers rating Kurrents as 4 plus stars. My wife was very happy with the sea bass as was I with the swordfish.

Nice place for a nice night out. Good food. Good service. Surpriing for a hotel restaurant. Nicest place to eat in the main part of the island.

Who would've thought a hotel restaurant would earn five stars? We (my wife, 11 year old daughter and I) are staying at the Marco Island Marriot and needed a place to eat. It was raining so hard we didn't want to leave the property and the other restaurant (Quinn's) required a walk outside through the downpour to get to. Kurrent's was the only place that we could arrive at without looking like a family of drowned rats. Being a "fine dining" hotel restaraunt we were prepared to pay a ransom for a very mediocre meal. What we actually recieived was anything but! Upon arriving (without reservations) we noticed a 6 seat kitchen view "food bar". Thinking we could at least have some good entertainment to accompany our expensive meal, we asked to be seated there. Our server (Rob) promptly welcomed us and helped us make selections. My wife was not so hungry so she ordered an appetizer of tuna served three ways ($14) and a side of lobsster mac and cheese ($10). The tuna included a very fresh offering of tartare, a seared piece and a spring roll seved with the obligatory ginger and wasabi. It was a very generous serving (probably would have been called a meal in other places) and of excellent quality but the real star was the mac and cheese. It was served in a meal sized pasta bowl and included the meat of two claws and probably 3 oz of additional tail meat pieces (probably would have cost $8 at a good market!). It was sinfully decadent. A heart attack waiting to happen! Definately one of a handful of "last meals" I'd ask for..... but remember..... It only cost $10!!! My daughter ordered a bone in pork chop ($26). I'm always cautious about pork chops in restaurants. They're so often dry and tough.... but not this one. It was prepared perfectly with a dark char on the outside but still juicey and moist on the inside. It was very generous in size (far more than she could eat.... which is good, because I really enjoyed what she could not finish). I ordered the sea bass ($28, I think) which was served with a (I believe) a creamed puree of mango and a side of mushroom risotto. It was perfect! Even my daughter who won't touch seafood raved about it. Our meal was finished with a shared chocolate soufle which we all agreed was outstanding. Our sever (Rob) was friendly and professional. He offered us just the right amount of friendly conversation when he realized we were receptive to that. The cooks we watched were also friendly and willing to engage us and answer our questions. The decor is comfortable, relaxing and modern. The acoustics are good which keeps the noise level down. The tables offer a generous amount of space between them. If we return to Marco Island, it won't be for the weather (it was stormy for three days straight). It won't be for the hotel, which was actually quite nice. It will probably be to enjoy our new favorite restaurant on the Island and will absolutely be too savor at least one more serving of their lobster macaroni and cheese!

This is the best restaurant at the Marriott and the best restaurant on Marco Island. The food is excellent. The service is perfectly wonderful. There's a great selection, including a few (very few) organic items on the menu. The decoration of the room was a bit much. If you are not staying at the Marriott, ask them where to park when you call for a reservation - it can be difficult to figure out exactly where they want your car. Take a look at their web site for the menu, which is constantly changing, yet always offers something wonderful for everyone.
